Our Vision

Located just an hour from London

Benham Park offers convenience and seclusion in equal measure

Our vision

Once upon a time Benham Park was known for hosting grand parties, in the 18th century Lady Elizabeth Craven would entertain the English aristocracy by calling on illustrious names such as Horace Walpole and David Garrick to perform poetic theatre in the Benham Park amphitheatre.

With over 100 years of not being celebrated, lived in or loved, Benham Park is proud to be restored back to its former glory to celebrate its rich history of owners, architecture and craftmanship. After 2 years of careful restoration and refurbishment, we will be opening the doors in Spring 2026 to create the most exclusive venue in the English countryside.

Our vision will aim to attract families, brands, fashionistas, artists, blue chip companies and film producers to the gates of Benham, to once again turn this beautiful estate into a hive of creativity and celebration after 100 years.

Corporate Events

Throughout England there are beautiful houses and excellent hotels, but very few can offer the privacy, luxury and tailored experience that Benham is able to extend to its clients. Benham’s state of the art fit-out affords the experience of a five-star hotel but in an historic and private environment. A visit to Benham is a treat, a stay at Benham is a luxury, and an event at Benham will be an everlasting memory.

Media & Culture

Benham is a stage for art, cultural and brand experiences. The House is an architectural jewel nestled in a bucolic English setting. Benham was built as a stage to project power and influence, and it remains a stage to showcase, and exhibit brands and culture. Unlike many of the houses of this era, Benham’s interior is 21st Century within a 18th Century Georgian facade.

History of Benham Park

Benham Park stands on the site of the historic Benham Valence Manor, a royal grant from Queen Elizabeth I to her Italian tutor, Giovanni Battista Castiglione, in 1570. The manor passed through distinguished hands until the late 18th century, when William Craven, 6th Baron Craven, commissioned the construction of the grand house we see today.

Completed in 1775, the mansion was designed by renowned architect Henry Holland with landscaped grounds by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown. This elegant Georgian house became home to Lady Elizabeth Craven and, later, her second husband Alexander, Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach — a former German prince who had renounced his throne for a quieter life in England.

Benham Park’s neoclassical style, original sweeping staircase, and exquisite Circular Hall reflect the refined taste of its original occupants. The estate has seen modifications over the centuries — including 20th-century architectural changes and a shift in function — but its historical character and sense of grandeur remain remarkably intact.

Throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, Benham Park was home to the Sutton baronets. In 1982, the house was sold and adapted for corporate use, serving as a base for companies. Today, following significant restoration and transformation, Benham Park has been returned to its former splendour, once again welcoming guests for memorable, private events in an extraordinary historic setting.
